Our FUENF-G-Caf\u00e9 via Clubhouse meeting today, Monday, February 8, was all about “fulfilling promises” – even if that doesn’t mean that all the promises made could actually be kept.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At the last coffee round, some participants wished to have chip manufacturers and telecommunication providers in the discussion group as well. To start with, that didn’t work out (yet). However, we were able to keep our promise to provide further insights into DMAG Smart Venue: Deutsche Messe is planning to equip the exhibition center with 5G in such a way that external companies can test and implement projects related to the new mobile communications standard here. Last week, co-host Frank Jablonski revealed the project to be his favorite, but now two DMAG project members answered the panel’s questions and revealed: Despite difficult times regarding Corona, we can probably expect the next official news in mid-February.<\/p>\n

Whether the support announced in the exclusive interview with Minister of State Dorothee B\u00e4r will have a concrete impact on the project, had to remain open today. FUENF-G editor Harry Jacob was more specific, providing information on the current status of the industry-ready 5G router overview (free of charge for newsletter recipients) – partly in a dialog with Sander Rotmensen from Siemens.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Another exciting guest today was Karin Loidl, Fraunhofer IIS, who reported on an extensive project work with the mechanical engineers from VDMA and thus provided insights not only into their specification activities, but also into the jointly produced publication on the topic of use cases of 5G in connection with Industry 4.0: The special thing, according to Loidl, is that all the use cases dealt with there are “real” applications from industry and mechanical engineering, and the work thus shows the great potential of the technology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Once again, many topics that were on the moderators’ and certainly some of the participants’ lists remained unspoken in this session. But this should only be an occasion to meet again next Monday, 15:00, for a coffee at Clubhouse.
