Deutsche Telekom and Endress+Hauser are working together on new offerings in the field of measurement and automation technology for the process industry. Endress+Hauser announced this in a press release.

The main focus of the cooperation is on the integration of measuring devices into the 5G network and digital services based on them. In the future, new measuring instruments will be equipped with a corresponding mobile radio module. Existing systems will be connected to the 5G network via newly developed HART gateways.

The construction of 5G campus networks also creates a new signal path in the industrial process: In addition to the actual measured values, additional process information can be transmitted and analyzed in real time via the network. This enables not only a more efficient design of production processes, but also the use of data-based cloud applications. These could, for example, be used for the predictive maintenance of production facilities.

The measures are intended to drive the digitization of industrial production a decisive step forward; Telekom speaks of a “complete 5G ecosystem” for industry. The two companies are currently working on a coordinated timetable for the cooperation.
