Verizon teams up with Nokia to offer private 5G capabilities

Verizon Business will offer companies located in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region private 5G platform in partnership with Nokia.

Verizon helps industrial enterprises to build private industrial 5G networks within their premises. This means that critical data does not have to be transmitted over public networks. The new offering is based on Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud, a private wireless networking solution with automation capabilities that enables the deployment of applications via a web-based interface.

The cooperation with Nokia is not the only commitment given by Verizon in the attractive 5G market:

  • In London, the supplier operates a 5G laboratory and production studio.
  • In South Korea, Verizon is setting up a 5G roaming service.
  • Together with Microsoft, Cisco, IBM and AWS, Verizon has entered into a MEC partnership. Verizon is also a founding member of the 5G Future Forum, which promotes the deployment of 5G and interoperable MEC-enabled solutions.
  • Together with Corning and Samsung, Verizon develops 5G mmWave in-buildings solutions.
