Rohde und Schwarz has announced that since January 18 it has been offering the first validated IMS conformance test procedures for 5G NR that can be used for certification tests according to PTCRB.

This should also pave the way for 5G IMS conformance testing. PTCRB certification is required for products that rely on wireless technologies and are to be operated in the United States. Rohde und Schwarz was able to perform the industry’s first validations of IMS test procedures back in 2008. Since then, the company says it has confirmed its position in LTE conformance and carrier acceptance testing, as well as 5G IMS testing for carriers.

Ensuring interoperability

To ensure interoperability across different mobile networks, mobile devices must be certified by test laboratories accredited by either the GCF or the PTCRB. This certification is mandatory for all mobile devices to be accepted by network operators. Part of this certification includes tests for the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).

Rohde und Schwarz offers conformance tests based on the CMW500 Wideband Radio Communication Tester. In conjunction with the CMX500 Radio Communication Tester, all test systems can be upgraded for 5G NR. The CMX-KC621X software option adds the validated 5G IMS test cases to the CMX500.
