Qualcomm and Ericsson, together with SIMCom, hosted a webinar on 5G and IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things). The speakers also showcased their products in the area of 5G IIoT.

The core contents of a webinar on 18 November last year were the latest 5G trends and details on the progress and successes of the still-nascent technology. Under the heading “IIoT Revolution in 5G Era”, Qualcomm, Ericsson, and SIMCom showed conviction: as evaluation, testing, and deployment activities are increasing significantly for the 5G core in all geographic regions, 5G will continue to make life smarter, safer and more efficient. IIoT has also proven itself in manufacturing, where it has shown great potential for quality control, sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, supply chain traceability, and overall supply chain efficiency. IIoT is pivotal to improved field service processes, energy management, and asset tracking.

A seamless transition to wireless solutions

Qualcomm Technologies are driving the digital transformation and have recently focused on providing solutions to the ecosystem for upgrading existing IoT systems and making 5G a reality for the IoT. The requirements of the modern IoT include a seamless transition from wire-based factories to wireless solutions that support both LTE and 5G connectivity.

Qualcomm recently unveiled its comprehensive modem solution to help the IoT ecosystem develop dedicated 5G devices for the industrial IoT industry. According to the manufacturer, the Qualcomm 5G IoT modem offers lower power consumption and thermal efficiency and is designed for industrial and enterprise applications in the following market segments: Automation, Construction, Energy, Manufacturing, Mining, Precision Agriculture, Public Utilities, Retail, and many more.

Simplified warehouse operations and processing of orders

SIMCom, as a leading provider of modules, works closely with Qualcomm and Ericsson. SIMCom 5G modules have been used in IIoT for various applications such as UAV, 5G CPE, industrial routers, live transmissions. SIMCom 5G module SIM8202G-M2 can be used in all areas of smart warehousing for solving the integration and optimization of various information systems of automation equipment, including purchasing management, inventory management, order management, sorting, verification, distribution, location information management, etc. With the wide bandwidth and short latency of 5G networks, warehouse operation control and task scheduling are effectively improved, and order processing capability is more than doubled.
