At Hannover Messe 2023, the three partners VDMA, ZVEI, and Deutsche Messe are going to jointly present the Industrial Wireless Arena + 5G Networks & Applications. Topics sur la table are wireless communication systems for flexible, scalable networking tailored to the specific needs of industry 4.0.

It may all be a little later this year than in previous years, but it feels like before the pandemic. Hannover Messe, the world’s largest industrial trade fair, is currently being planned and prepared at full speed. One of the highlights this year will again be wireless networked production. A diverse array of industry insiders, experts, companies, and research organizations shall come together under the roof of the Hannover fairgrounds. The VDMA is represented by the working group Wireless Communications for Machines (AG WCM), the 5G-ACIA represents the ZVEI, and Deutsche Messe is bringing its 5G Smart Venue to the project as a campus network.

All important partners, companies, and associations are in one place for one week and can experience the important transfer of knowledge and networking in a direct use case environment.

Added value through cross-industry dialogue

“Wireless communication systems will be one of the most important building blocks on the way to the digital transformation of industry in the coming years”, says Dr. Reinhard Heister, Managing Director of the VDMA working group Wireless Communications for Machines.

He also claims, that a large part of the success lies in the strengthening of a cross-industry dialogue, which ensures that the special features and needs of the industry are taken into account in every respect. “The Industrial Wireless Arena + 5G Networks & Applications brings together everyone involved in this young community like no other event and offers interested parties a unique opportunity to be part of this innovative force,” with that, Heister closes his statement.

Bringing industrial 5G and Industry 4.0 together

Even Gunther Koschnick, Head of Industry at ZVEI, expresses his elation on the upcoming event: “What belongs together will come together, enabling more efficiency, flexibility, and productivity. The technological foundations – developed by the 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) – are in place and can be used worldwide”. Koschnick also addresses the future market ramp-up. He states that it is important to clearly demonstrate the interaction between industrial 5G and Industry 4.0 to the relevant target groups. “Hannover Messe offers the perfect stage for this”, concludes Koschnick.

Also getting his word in, is Marcus Eibach, Head of the Smart Venue and 5G & Technology Innovations department at Deutsche Messe. Eibach says: “The synergies created by the merger of the three partners in wireless network technologies are of the highest quality at Hannover Messe. The entire industry meets there as a potential customer industry for wireless technologies. All important partners, companies, and associations are in one place for one week and can experience the important transfer of knowledge and networking in a direct use case environment.”
